Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which thickness of Clipinhair to choose?

Clipinhair offers two different thicknesses for our 20” sets: 120 grams and 160 grams.

120 gram sets are more suitable for those with thinner, fine to medium hair types. It will add length and a boost of volume to your hair, while still looking natural.

160 gram sets are our most popular and are suitable for any hair type, but are highly recommended for those with medium to thick hair types. It will add length as well as blend in naturally with your already thick hair, giving a flawless natural look.

How long do they last?

The lifespan of your Clipinhair Extensions is between 3 months to a year, depending on usage and how well you look after them. Daily usage, the use of heated styling tools, and frequent washing all contribute to the wear and tear of your extensions. To help improve the longevity of your extensions we advise not sleeping in your extensions, always using salon-grade heat protectant sprays, and only washing your extensions every 10 - 20 wears.

How do I attach my Clipinhair Extensions?

  1. Start by parting the section of your hair in line with your earlobes.
  2. Open the clips and attach them as close to the roots as possible; starting with the middle clip.
  3. Repeat steps 1 through 3 at different partings of your hair; starting at the lower half of your head and working your way up. Follow your hairline and be sure to balance them out evenly. You may need one or two practice rounds, but once you get it, it should take only a few minutes.
  4. Your extensions should feel secure and will not come out until you unclip them.
  5. NEVER try to slide the extensions off without first opening the clip.

How do I put in Clipin Bangs?

Clipin Bangs are simple and easy to use. You just need to unclip the clips and slide the bangs in at the top of your head. Spend some time playing with them to get them at the right length, and frame for your face. Once you’ve got them in the way you want them, blend them into your hair. We recommend wearing a headband with the bangs to hide any possible join, is visable. Remember to always unclip the clips before taking the bangs out. Never sleep with the bangs in, as this could damage them.

Can I colour them?

It’s preferable that you choose the correct colour Clipinhair Extensions from the beginning, as they have already undergone a chemical process to get them to that specific colour. However, they can be coloured a darker shade, but not lighter, and bleaching them is not recommended. Be aware that colouring your extensions will considerably shorten the lifespan of your extensions.

If you do opt to dye your extensions, we recommend getting them colored at a professional and experienced hair colourist who has previous experience working with hair extensions. Send an email through to and we can refer you to someone in your area. We would advise testing your chosen on one clip weft prior to coloring the full set to ensure the resulting shade is what you anticipate. We also recommend using a semi-permanent color, as it is far more gentle on the hair extensions. We do not recommend lightening your Clipinhair Extensions, as it will require them to be bleached. Bleaching is a very harsh and harmful chemical process, which will alter the quality of your hair extensions and could potentially severely damage them.

Should I choose straight or wavy?

Both these options have their perks, but if this is your first set of Clipinhair Extensions it is best that you choose the style that you most often wear. So if your hair is naturally straight, or you straighten it most mornings, then we recommend going for the straight set. For those with naturally wavy hair, or if you perm or curl your hair, the wavy extensions are perfect for you. You won’t need much styling, just clip in and go!

You are able to curl the straight extensions and straighten the wavy extensions, should you wish. Just remember that excessive styling will greatly shorten the lifespan of your extensions. If you have already purchased a straight set you can always purchase a wavy set for days when you feel like a quick and easy change.

For additional help choosing the right product, send us a few photos of your hair in different lighting conditions and we will help in any way we can. Take your own Clipinhair extensions before and after photos and see what a difference these products can make.

Please Note:
A soft perm has been used on our extensions to give them their gorgeous wave. To ensure that they do not lose their wave; avoid straightening them, and always air-dry them in their hair net. We do not offer refunds for Clipinhair extensions that loose their wave.

If you are unsure of what colour to choose simply send two photos of yourself, in indoor and outdoor lighting, to and we'll help you select the right colour!

What does Remy (Remi) mean?

Remy (or Remi) hair extensions are made of real human hair, and are considered to be the highest quality hair extensions available. This is because the utmost care is taken when they are being created. The key element to their quality is that the cuticles are kept intact and not stripped. Preserving the hairs cuticles, and aligning them in a unidirectional fashion, creates extensions that are completely natural in appearance and texture. This process ensures that the hair remains super soft, shiny, silky and completely tangle-free throughout its lifetime.

What is Virgin hair?

Virgin Remy hair is hair that has been completely unprocessed. For extensions to qualify as virgin hair, they must meet rigorous standards. These include; not being exposed to heat damage and harsh agents such as cigarette smoke and drugs , been permed, dyed, coloured, bleached and/or chemically processed in any way. It also means the hair comes from a single donor, and all the cuticles are completely intact, running in the same direction. This hair is extremely expensive, if it isn't expensive then question the supplier.

We don’t supply Virgin Remy hair, but we do supply real-human Remy hair that has been dyed and chemically processed. Find out more here.
